Flirting With Mother Nature

                          The Vegetable That "Flirts"

                               With Mother Nature

One of California's Most Famous Vegetables has been Successfully "Flirting with Mother Nature"

The Coastal Variety Globe Artichokes have been getting
"kissed by the Frost" in the middle of the night.

This is Good News for You and Me!  The Cool, Frost Filled Nights leaves its markings on the outside of the chokes.

These "Markings" are artificial, and can be rubbed right off the leaves.  They also disappear during the cooking process.
This doesn't adversely affect the Taste or Quality at all. In Fact, Growers say Artichokes Won't taste any better than they do Right Now(!) During this Time of the Year.
California produces over 90% of the Nation's Artichokes.  Unfortunately, these Kissed by Frost Veggies Can't be Shipped too Far Away, because they don't have the Normal Shelf Life as other times of the  year.

This means good Deals to You and Me over the next few weeks.

Growers are "Wheeling and Dealing"  to Sell the Excess Crop to West Coast wholesalers and Distributors.

Here's a Video on How to Eat an Artichoke
from Ocean Mist Farms.

And That's What's                                              "Fresh from The Market"                              This Week...
